Connecting Monitors Manually

 

e-Surveiller Monitors usually connect to the Station, however, in the event that a monitor takes too long to connect or is having difficulty connecting. You can connect the Monitor manually.

 

    1     Open the e-Surveiller Station.

    2     Press F2 or select Connect Monitor from the Actions menu.

  NOTE: The e-Surveiller port number (292) shown above will almost certainly be different from yours.

 

    3     To connect a Monitor installed on

a    a computer on your network:

Enter the network name of the monitored computer.

 

 

           NOTE: You can discover the network name of the Monitored computer

·   In My Network Places or Network Neighborhood in Windows® (On the Station computer)

·   By opening System from the Windows® Control Panel (In the classic view) and selecting the Computer name tab (on the monitored computer)

·   By opening Network from the Windows® Control Panel and selecting the Identification tab (on the monitored computer)

 

 

b    a remote computer across the Internet:

Enter the Internet IP address of the monitored computer.

 

 

    4     Click Connect.

The Station will attempt to connect the monitor.

 

  NOTE: Firewalls installed on the Station and Monitored computers can block the connection. Make sure outgoing connections are allowed on the e-Surveiller port from the Station computer and incoming connections are allowed on the e-Surveiller port to the Monitored Computer.

If the Monitored computer is behind a router, you may also consider forwarding the e-Surveiller port from the router to the Monitored computer.

  NOTE: The Connect through a different port option is used in complex scenarios; such as if the monitored computer is behind a router, and a different port on the router is forwarded to the e-Surveiller port on the Monitored computer.
