Deactivating a Monitor

 

To deactivate a monitor actively running on a computer:

 

    1     Open the e-Surveiller station

    2     Click to select the associated configuration for the monitor you want to deactivate as shown below.

 

 

If there is no associated configuration in the Monitor Configurations pane, then click an empty area on the Monitor Configuration listing area and press CTRL-SPACE to deselect all configurations.

NOTICE: In this case, you need to know the Monitor's filename to deactivate it.

    3     Select Deactivate from the Actions menu OR press CTRL+D.
A window, prompting you to select a folder where the deactivator program will be stored, appears.

 

    4     Select a folder.

    5     Click OK.
A message notifying you where the deactivator was placed appears.

 

 

    6     Click OK.

    7     Right click on the configuration for the Monitor you want to deactivate.

A pop-up menu appears (as shown below)

 

 

    8     Click Properties on the pop-up menu

The monitor properties window appears.

 

 

    9     Note the Monitor’s filename. You may need it when deactivating the Monitor.

 10     Click Close.

 11     Navigate into the folder you chose at step 4, where the deactivator program was stored.

The deactivator file icon is shown below.

 

 

 12     Transfer this file to the monitored computer. (You may do so by placing the file in a shared folder which is accessible from the monitored computer OR by copying it into a flash disk or floppy disk and accessing the disk from the monitored computer.)

 13     Run the deactivator on the monitored computer.

 14     You may be asked to enter the Monitor filename (as shown below)

  NOTE: The deactivator may automatically deactivate the monitor without asking you for the filename.

 

 

 15     Enter the Monitor filename

 

 

 16     Click Deactivate.

If the Monitor is successfully deactivated, a confirmation message will appear (as shown below)

 

 

 17     Click OK.

The Monitor deactivation is complete.
