To display only unread
logs:

Select Options from the View menu.
The View
Options window appears.

Make sure the view only new logs check box is checked.
To quickly select this
option, click on the view only new logs button
below the navigation pane.
To view logs within
a particular date/time range:

Click Date Range from the View
menu OR click on the date range button 
below the navigation
pane.
The Date Range window appears

Choose the date range to view and click
OK
NOTE: New filter
settings will take effect when fresh pages are
displayed
