Monitoring an unconnected standalone computer

 

    1     Start the Generate New Monitor wizard.

 

 

    2     Select On this computer.

    3     Click Next.

The Installation Specifics page appears.

 

 

    4     If you want to monitor one standalone computer with this Monitor, Click to select the On one computer option.
If you want to monitor more than one standalone computer with this Monitor, Click to select the On several computers option.

    5     Enter a name for the Monitor you want to generate in the Identifier field.

    6     You may enter a description for the Monitor you want to generate in the Description field.

    7     You may change the suggested filename in the Monitor Filename field.

 

  NOTE: The suggested Monitor Filename may differ from the one in the above illustration.

 

    8     If you want to include instructions to be executed by the Monitor, click to check the Include instructions check box. (see instructions) 

    9     If you want the monitor to install without displaying any notices, click to check the Quiet Installation check box.

 10     Click Next.

The Log Save Location page appears.

 

 

 11     Enter a folder pathname in the Folder field.

 

NOTICE: The folder specified in the Folder field must exist on the computer(s) you want to monitor. If not, make sure you create it.
Failure to do so will only allow you to obtain log reports by typing the hotphrase on the monitored computer(s).

 

 12     Click Next.

The Other Options page appears.

 

 

 13     Click to check the Optional: You may set a Hotphrase for this monitor check box.

 14     Enter a short uncommon word in the Hotphrase field.

 

  NOTE: The Hotphrase is a word which when typed on the monitored computer causes a window, prompting you to receive log reports, to be displayed.

  NOTE: Specifying a Hot Folder causes the transfer of log reports into the specified folder, when the Hotphrase is typed on the monitored computer, without any display.

 

 15     Click Next.

The Build Location page appears.

 

 

 16     You may change the suggested folder in the Folder field by clicking Browse to select a different folder. You may specify a new folder by clicking New Folder to create one.

 

  NOTE: The suggested folder may differ from the one in the above illustration.

 

 17     Click Next.

The Monitor Configuration Summary page appears.

 

 

 18     Review the monitor configuration. You can use the scroll bar to scroll through the list.

 19     Click Finish.

You may have to wait for a few minutes for the wizard to generate the monitor.

The Monitor Successfully Generated page appears.

 

 

 20     Click Open Folder.

The Windows® explorer folder containing the generated Monitor installer appears.

 

 

 21     Transfer the generated Monitor installer to the computer you want to monitor. (You may do so by copying the Monitor installer into a flash disk or floppy disk and accessing the disk from the target computer.)

 

NOTICE: DO NOT run this Monitor installer on the station computer.

 

You may return to the e-Surveiller Station to close the Generate New Monitor wizard.

 

 22     Run the Monitor installer on the computer you want to monitor, to install the Monitor.

If you chose the On several computers option at step
4, repeat steps 21 and 22 on all standalone computers you want to monitor.

 

You can delete the Monitor installer after installation is complete.

 

Your setup is complete.

 

NOTICE: To obtain log reports from an unconnected standalone computer; Open the folder you specified at step 11 and copy out files with .zlg extension, In addition, minimize all windows and type the hotphrase you specified at step 14.
