
If you want to modify the
properties and/or instructions of an active Monitor,
you have to update the Monitor’s configuration.
To update a Monitor configuration:

Open
the e-Surveiller Station.

Right
click on the configuration you want to update.
A pop-up menu appears (as shown below).

Click
Properties
on the pop-up menu.
The
monitor properties window appears.

Click
on a tab.
The property sheet for the tab appears.

Specify
the new properties by modifying the fields within
the property sheet.
NOTE:
You can make multiple changes to several fields in different tabs.
NOTE:
See the Monitor Properties Reference below for detailed information on
the properties you can modify.

Click
Update.

You
may be prompted with a warning (as shown below)
informing you that there is no provision in the
new configuration to update a remote Monitor in
the future without it connecting to the station.
This is important if you MUST be able to update
a remote Monitor even if it is unable to connect
the station, otherwise, click Yes.

You’ll
be prompted to select which files to update. (as
shown in the window below)

If
you want to make a copy of the Monitor configuration
file so that you may transfer it to an alternative
location which the Monitor checks periodically,
select the Update
station’s copy and remote files option, otherwise,
select the Update station’s copy only.

If you want connected Monitors
associated with this configuration to update immediately,
make sure the Update connected associated monitors.

If you selected the Update station’s copy and remote files
option at step 9
you can:

Click to check the Update configuration at FTP location where monitors periodically check
for updates check box, if it is enabled.
·
Click to check the Copy updated configuration file to check box and specify a filename
(with a folder pathname e.g. c:\mynewconfig.conf),
if you want to create a copy of the Monitor configuration
file with the specified filename.

Click Finish.
You may have to wait for a few minutes for the
update to complete, especially if the update will
be uploaded to an FTP location.
The Successful Update page appears. (as shown
below)

Pay attention to any notices or
instructions on this page.
Your update is complete.
NOTE: The remote
Monitor will receive the update when it connects
to the e-Surveiller station or when it polls the
configuration update location.
MONITOR PROPERTIES
REFERENCE
General Tab
Config ID – Displays
the configuration ID. (You can’t modify this
value)
Filename
– Displays the monitor’s filename,
you need the filename to deactivate the monitor.
(You can’t modify this value)
Startup
Title – Displays the shortcut title
for the monitor (You can’t modify this value)
Description
– This sets a personal description
for the configuration/monitor.
Content
to monitor – Set or clear these to
specify if you want to monitor
System
activity (system startup, user info, etc.),
Keystrokes
and mouse clicks,
Application
titles,
Chat
conversations,
Changes
to files in document folders (you can specify
additional folders to monitor)
Screen
viewing (if you want the monitor to allow its
screen to be remotely viewed)
Instructions Tab
Instruction –
Select the Instruction you wish to add
Parameters
– Specify the parameters for the
Instruction.
Click the add button to add to the instruction
list or Remove to remove an added instruction.
(See instructions.)
Connection Tab
Listen for connection from station
–
Set this if you want to be able to connect the
monitor from the station. You may clear this
if the e-Surveiller port is in use on the monitored
computer.
Use
proxy – Set this if the monitored
computer uses a proxy to access the Internet.
Specify the proxy address and port if you set
this box. See proxies.
Connect
to station across the Internet –
Select the method through which the monitor
connects to the station across the Internet.
Log
Transfer Tab
Log Interval –
Set this to select the time interval which logs
are saved on the local system.
Upload
Interval – Set this to select the
time interval which logs are uploaded, emailed
or transferred.
Hot
phrase – Sets the hotphrase for the
monitor.
Hot
folder – Sets a folder where logs
are transferred when the hotphrase is typed.
NOTE: The Hotphrase is a word which
when typed on the monitored computer causes
a window, prompting you to receive log reports,
to be displayed.
NOTE: Specifying a Hot Folder causes
the transfer of log reports into the specified
folder, when the Hotphrase is typed on the monitored
computer, without any display.
Config
Update Location Tab
Config Update Method –
Selects the method through which the monitor
checks for updates if it is unable to connect
to the station.
NOTE:
See alternative
configuration update methods.
Upload
Location 1-3 Tab
Upload Method – Selects the method used for uploading
logs.
FTP Location
FTP
Host – Specifies the host name of the FTP host.
Directory
– Specifies the host directory where the
uploaded files are to be stored.
User
name – Specifies the login username for the
remote site.
Password
– Specifies the login password for the
remote site.
Email (SMTP)
SMTP
Server – Specifies the SMTP (outgoing email) server,
the monitor will use.
User ID
– Specifies the account name (user ID)
for the server.
Password
– Specifies the password for the account.
From
– Specifies the originating email address.
To
– Specifies the destination email address.
Subject
– Specifies the subject of the email.
Use
a different port (SMTP) – Set this to another
number if the SMTP server does not use the default
SMTP port.
Authenticate
with POP3 server – Set this if the SMTP server requires
POP3 authentication prior to relaying the email.
Local/Network Folder
Address
– Specifies the folder address where logs
will be saved.
Network Transfer
Station
– Specifies the station computer name (it
is not recommended to modify this.)
Port
– Specifies the e-Surveiller station port
(it is not recommended to modify this.)
